Marine pictures by Herefordshire-based painter Martin Lamport. These paintings are inspired by sailing and traveling experiences, using conditions and locations I have witnessed and subjects which caught my imagination. Some have stories attached. Some are merely for fun. They probably do not satisfy any modern definition of art. I just strive for craftsmanship. Taking my inspiration from the Mad Hatter I paint what I like and I like what I paint. I hope you do too.

Finding the Mary Celeste oil on canvas 23 x 15 inches
The Mary, not Marie, Celeste was discovered abandoned between the Azores and Portugal in 1872. A boat with three men went to investigate. The sky is inspired by one I witnessed in the Azores.
