Marine pictures by Herefordshire-based painter Martin Lamport. These paintings are inspired by sailing and traveling experiences, using conditions and locations I have witnessed and subjects which caught my imagination. Some have stories attached. Some are merely for fun. They probably do not satisfy any modern definition of art. I just strive for craftsmanship. Taking my inspiration from the Mad Hatter I paint what I like and I like what I paint. I hope you do too.

Law Hill was one of the last of the British four masted barques. She took part in the last grain race in 1937/38, described by Eric Newby. I painted this conventional ship portrait for a family that had owned her.
